The programs for the Harvard-Yale football games have changed dramatically since the first official issue in 1875 depicted a decidedly spherical ball and simple design to commemorate the first "foot ball" match between the two schools. Since that first issue, programs and their covers in particular have taken on a life of their own, reflecting a wide range of styles, designs and sensibilities. As The Game has evolved, so too have its programs.
